CNN’s Jane Velez Mitchell Has A Nervous Sollecito And Then TWO Guests Who Think He Did It

Posted by Peter Quennell

A lively debate! CNN Headline News tonight around 7:30. No “I wuz beaten up by meanie policemen” claims this time by Sollecito.

Mistakes were made by all the speakers, but super-lawyer Wendy Murphy and the crime blogger Levi Page gave the case for guilt their best shot. Even the third commentator thinks the timing of the book is insane.

Wendy Murphy didnt know about the Meredith book, but it was published only in England and transgressed no Italian law. She did vigorously get across just how much evidence there is, and not for the first time. See her tough article here and tough interview here where she assesses Knox as dangerous.

Jane, Mignini is NOT in a ton of trouble and never was. No satanism, repeat, no satanism. Your senior CNN colleague Nancy Grace believed Knox did it. Your CNN colleague Drew Griffen set Mignini up. See here and also here.

There were no leaks - at least not by Mignini. He never leaks. There were no tabloids, at least not in Italy. The only 2-3 were in the UK, and they affected no jury. There was no invented Foxy Knoxy - that was her own Internet presence.

Sollecito couldnt get his story out? But he maintained a code of total silence for four years - could THAT have been the problem? And Sollecito did NOT support Amanda’s alibi - he sold her down the river in a heartbeat when a policeman looked at him funny (kidding - just a little).

And what’s with your squealing, Jane?! He isnt THAT adorable. Not if you are at the wrong end of a knife.

Five minutes ago I just saw Jane Velez-Mitchell. What a ridiculous confab she had with Raffaele. She claimed she was up until 2a.m. reading his book, “Honor Bound”, couldn’t put it down.

“Do you still love her?” was her first question to Raf. He said a quick and unwavering, “No.” Jane asked about the kiss. He continued to call it a kiss of comfort.

Jane Velez-Mitchell commended Raffaele for not abandoning Amanda. She called him “gallant and loyal”, said he was “a gentleman” and said, “You are adorable”, then wished him the best of luck with his life.

Wow, it doesn’t get any cheesier than this. Shallow, childish, and completely surface treatment of this man and his book.

Did anyone else think Raffale was going to say “my life isn’t like it used to be, and I am not like I used to be, because I used to do a lot of drugs” at the point when he was so desperately struggling for words?

It seemed like that was where he was going and then he thought better of it.

Anyone who watches the video of the kiss can see that it was initiated by Knox. She looked at the cameras. Then she looked up at Sollecito, closed her eyes and stuck out her smoocher. Sollecito was momentarily caught off guard. The kiss was not him comforting her. She was either comforting herself, comforting him, or most likely doing it for the cameras (under the misguided belief that it would make them look more wholesome).

Sorry.Jane Velez-Mitchell is another complete idiot who has done no home work at all on her vile guest or the case.

She was up until 2a.m. reading his book, “Honor Bound”, yeah right you were, and saying if this book is anything to go by they are “innocent” what a airhead.

“Do you still love her” No. WTF.

JVM then said he was gallant and loyal, and are adorable fr sticking with AK. Pass the sick bag ppllleeeeaaaase!!

Then Joey Jackson playing along, where do they get these people, really.

The two people who spoke against them done ok, even though they were a bit out with the info, but at least they rebuffed this airhead of a woman.

Like Brmull stated over at PMF, imagine what someone from here or PMF could of achieved, even with 2 minutes to speak, JVM would of fainted and knife boy would of been running for the infamous JVM innocent or guilt “elevator”

I was going to play it again, but that woman is nauseating.

At long last - two people on American TV rebutting the notion of innocence (even if their facts did go astray).  For me this is the first time i have seen this and it makes a welcome change.  Whoever is this Jane person?  Are her interviews always so ridiculous?

Jane Velez-Mitchell is an idiot. She acts like a hysterical and dim-witted teenager who just shouts a lot. There is no substance to what she says. You could tell immediately that she knows almost nothing about the facts of the case when she claimed Meredith had been stabbed 40 times. She also parroted the FOA myth about Mignini and satanism. I’ve just acquainted Jane with some of the key evidence on Twitter and told her told for the sake of the real victim - Meredith Kercher - her reporting should be balanced and actually accurate.

Anyone can send tweets to her via Twitter:

TM. I have also sent her a couple of informative messages on Twitter last night. I also sent her links to both here and PMF. I advised her it would maybe of been a good idea to have checked out the true facts of the case,  easily found on either site.

What a crazy lady. I didn’t know who she was but as I was watching this video, my reaction was “whoa! what’s her problem, is she his mom or wife?”. I mean, she could have put across her point equally well without shrieking like a banshee, drooling all over him, making up facts, acting indignant on his behalf and in general, without coming across as really immature and ignorant. A little objectivity wouldn’t have gone amiss either. The way she is holding on to that book as if it’s her first born is totally, totally weird. And what was that all about “Read this book, it explains everything”. Of course it explains away everything that points the guilt at RS, in case she failed to notice, it is his book. He is not a hero, he did throw AK under the bus not once but several times. Someone should tell her to calm down and stop p***** in her pants.

Hi Thundering.

You asked about Jane Velez Mitchell. She was one of the sidekicks to Nancy Grace (so was Anne Bremner) who hammers 2-3 cases a night for an hour (rebroadcast twice), some obsessionally, some usefully. They have similar high-decibel styles. Nancy Grace can pull in about one million a night, JVM on her own show about 1/3 that.

1) Siigns of her being kind-hearted:

From Wikipedia: “In addition to being one of the few openly gay journalists on television, she also has dedicated her time and resources to various charitable and humane causes. She is well known for her animal rights advocacy and is a vegan and an environmentalist.”

In several books etc she tries to push back hard against drugs and for treatment and rehabiltiation, of which there is not much for poor people in the US

2) Signs of her being naive or nasty:

She is half Hispanic and yet she enables bigots in their hostile attitudes to Italy and Italians. (In siding against Guede, Oprah likewise: bizarrely, she was siding against a black guy.)

This in June 2009 was the one most venomous legal panel on US TV on the case ever and JVM had them all braying for Italian blood (videos long since removed but there may be a transcript)..

Here is the blog of Levi Page the crime blogger who has the last word (almost) at the end of the show which left Jane Mitchell shocked! SHOCKED!!!

http://levipageshow.com/

We have only reached out once or twice to crime bloggers of which there are hundreds, but if anyone reading is looking for a project that would really help us, please tweet or email them to come read here? Especially to read Galati.

We are entering precisely the phase crime bloggers all love, which is when a huge well-funded body of lies pushed by mainstream media is brought crashing down.

And the real horrible truth about two perps stands revealed - not least by way of them shooting themselves in both feet.

As far as Jane Velez-Mitchell is concerned, that’s her act. She is always like that on her show. It’s hard to see how she gets the ratings to remain on TV, since my first impulse is one of immediate disgust and the desire to get away from that lady as fast as possible.

But, Wow, just Wow for Wendy Murphy! She is amazing! Yes, she got a few facts wrong, but her vehemence to not let the criminals escape justice was breathtaking!

My new hero!

@brmull, thanks for analysis of the kiss. I concur, Knox did initiate it.

Your list of facts you posted on PMF today about Raf learning around Oct. 29th that Amanda bought a ticket to China to see DJ, very interesing. Could she have been planning to link up with David Johnsrud in China for Christmas holidays rather than return to Seattle?

Also, if Raffaele was super mad at Amanda (although you know him, totally passive-aggressive and unable to directly confront her) then she might have thought like this:

+Chris never wanted me to come here.
+Mom is worried about me and will be furious when she finds out I’ve spent big money on ticket to China instead of going to see them at Christmas.
+Deanna will be disappointed.
+The Italian girls will be going to their homes for Christmas, the guys downstairs, too. I don’t want to go with them, may not be invited.
+Meredith will be going back to England, plus she is mad at me and has told me I’m sloppy, disloyal, I make her uncomfortable bringing guys to the cottage, I can’t even call my apartment my own.
+Now Raf is mad at me and will kick me to curb.
+DJ is probably mad at me, too, for telling him about my Italian lovers.
+Everybody’s mad at me.

Maybe she emailed DJ using Raf’s computer and he saw it.

Maybe this inner voice of criticism is caused by how she internalized her dad’s rejection of her, so she sets up a new similar dynamic where Raffaele takes the place of her father who “has something against her”.

She creates the parallel when she involves Raf in a real crime or the coverup of her real crime. Now she places herself under his thumb permanently to be the object of ongoing contempt by him, giving him power over her to make her feel bad.

This is achieved ironically in her bid to seek complete freedom in Italy. Now she is at the new male’s mercy forever, and any of his family members he wishes to reveal the secret to. Like Amanda, Raf has no brothers, and only one full-blooded sister, and also a divorced dad with new wife.

The kiss corroborates her inner desperation, confusion, and anguish muted only by fatigue. Of the two lovebirds in the liplock, she seems the more miserable of the two. She may have initiated the kiss as not only a fake for the cameras and as you say and I agree a way to make their union appear sincere and wholesome love, real devotion to one another.

This is to cover the fact their love was precisely the opposite, fear and suspicion of each other. Amanda tries to hold on to Raffaele by the most obvious tactic of physical intimacy. She knows he chiefly values her for this. This is compatible with her general promiscuous lifestyle which often accompanies female children from broken homes. They feel they must earn love, nothing is granted.

No wonder Amanda tore out her diary entries for October 2007. They may have discussed her ticket to China and her yearning for DJ and sudden regrets about getting involved with Raffaele, who objected to her early rising and was far from compatible with her in any real way, just another lay. That diary would have been TNT.

Wow ! I recently moved house and have had a lot to do besides so I have been unable to access the web for quite a while and of course a whole lot happened on TJMK during my absence.Don´t even know where to begin reading !  Unsurprisingly, there are greedy , money-grubbing joournalists trying to cash in on Meredith´s death just for the ratings once again. However, this is the first time I´ve actually heard Rafaelle Sollecito speak on live television and I find it disturbing.

Welcome back. Good luck in your new home.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the info on Jane Velez Mitchell.

So she is associated with Nancy Grace then?  It did cross my mind that she sounded like Nancy Grace when I watched the clip.  Very shrill and in-your-face.  Not my thing really.

Pity, however, that she didn’t consult Nancy Grace before the filming / broadcast as NG appeared to have a much clearer handle on the case when she made some comments last year.  Perhaps she could have pointed JVM to some of the facts or documents or TJMK & PMF……

Glad to see The Machine, in his characteristically reliable manner, has followed up on Twitter.  I must learn how to use Twitter now.

One thing I meant to note yesterday before posting was that there is a new photo of Meredith in the clip that I haven’t seen before.  It is lovely and compared with that I just don’t see why JVM constantly reiterates her opinion of how beautiful Amanda Knox is as she seems quite ordinary to me - good-looking perhaps but certainly not beautiful.

Even more puzzling is how she would think that the mere fact that a person is ‘beautiful’ (in her eyes) would mean that the person would therefore be incapable of murder!!!

As for RS, I don’t think this interview has done him any favours at all.  He comes across as somewhat stupid without a voice of his own (if you forget the book for a minute – for what that’s worth) and wouldn’t you think that he would be bursting to shout out his innocence?  Which, of course, he declined to do at his trial.

I wonder how Tuesday’s gig at UW will go.  Surely one would expect Amanda to show up - after all this is on her very own territory - to show solidarity especially as they descended into ‘hell’ together which one could say is absolutely spot on.  Their actions really did cause a true descent into hellish darkness.  For them and for everyone else concerned and particularly MEREDITH KERCHER herself.

Amanda really must show her face if she wants to maintain any sense of credibility and the they can then assert their innocence together.  If I were a student at UW I would expect to see her there supporting her partner in hell.  Hell’s bells it’s just on her doorstep, isn’t it!

Would be good if anyone could be there to pose a few questions to dear Raffaele in the energetic style of Wendy Murphy and Levi Page.

P.S. How on earth did the book last her until 2:00 AM???

Although perhaps she only started reading it at 1:00 AM.

That must be it. wink

Posted by thundering on 09/23/12 at 04:44 AM | #

How can it be called a “tell all interview”?  She barely let RS speak… Intriguing the researchers didn’t check the other guests all accorded with her opinion of innocence.  What an utterly dreadful attempt at serious journalism.

Posted by TruthWillOut on 09/23/12 at 06:05 AM | #

Hi guys. Does any one know if his talk, book signings at Tuesday’s gig at UW is being filmed. Or is there going to be a live link.

Thundering. I am betting AK will not show. If by any chance she does, I think she would be sitting to the side and keeping her mouth shut.

Thanks

Jeffski

Thundering,
From the quality of her research I suspect that Velez Mitchell probably doesn’t read very much. I wouldn’t go so far as to say she can’t read - she can apparently read from an autocue, but maybe she’s one of those unfortunates who can’t read without also speaking it out loud - again fine for TV, but must make reading a whole book very time consuming.

Posted by Spencer on 09/23/12 at 09:19 AM | #

Actually, what really struck me, as she was screeching away (what is it with her shouting at everyone?) disagreeing with her guests and saying they should read RS’s book (plug plug), is that she is essentially saying that court documents are not factual, but the book somehow is trustworthy.

If a young woman had not been stabbed to death, it would be laughable.

Honor Bound- Indeed!

Of course it is worth 2 million dollars!

Of course he admits, albeit indirectly, that her family tried to buy “honor” for him.

I am impressed that he did not repeat the now famous sentence that police threatened to beat him into a pulp. No honor there, I see.

He made several inconsistent statements (some or all must be lies, by simple logic)- just to comfort his sex partner of five nights- your honor, please!

He kept his mouth shut for four years, just to get out of hell with Amanda Knox- whose honor it is?

Now he has opened his mouth again, with disastrous results.

Jane, I hope you have never seen such a handsome criminal who can stab an innocent girl 40 times just for fun. I know it is tough to believe, but you disappoint me!

Jane, you need to read his book again and again and again, till you can see through all the nonsense!

Better late than never, honor hound!

I don’t know how anyone could watch a whole show with JVM.  Her style is so overdone and obnoxious, just like Nancy Grace and Suzy Orman.  Can’t stand to watch any of them more than one minute.  I tried to watch the whole video clip but couldn’t stand it after the part with WM.
