Prominent Seattle Knox PR Puppet Michael Heavey Might Be About To Take A Fall
Michael Heavey was the Washington State judge who wrote several letters riddled with innuendo and wrong claims to judicial authorities in Italy in the second half of 2008.
These letters were ignored in Italy, and Michael Heavey soon piped down and disappeared. Then he wrote a further letter in August 2009 to the highest officials which was again riddled with innuendo and wrong claims.
Now he is back in the limelight for writing that second letter. In Seattle a complaint has been lodged, about the illegal use of his office to give a misleading aura to his letter.
1) This was our post at the end of 2008 when Judge Heavey first tried to interfere in the Italian judicial process on behalf of Amanda Knox. We pointed out just some of the things that Heavey had managed to get wrong.
2) This is the second open letter of August 2009 to the top officials in Italy (which was then ignored). .
3) This is the complaint lodged by the Washington State Commission on Judicial Conduct about his allegedly appearing to interfere “officially” which is a contravention of the oath of office, and so pretty serious.
4) This was the report on the complaint against Judge Heavey in the Seattle Times.
The Washington Commission on Judicial Conduct has filed a complaint against King County Superior Court Judge Michael Heavey, alleging he violated the state’s Code of Judicial Conduct for his support of Amanda Knox, who was convicted of killing her British roommate in Italy.
The alleged violations include writing letters on official court stationery to Italian judicial system officials on behalf of Knox, utilizing King County court staff to type the letters, and speaking publicly on the case “in an attempt to influence the proceeding,” according to the commission.
Judges may not, under the Code of Judicial Conduct, lend the prestige of judicial office to advance the private interests of others, the commission notes.
According to the commission, Heavey is required to file an answer with the commission within 21 days, unless the time is extended by the commission. Once the commission receives the judge’s response it will set up a public hearing on the allegations….
The 11-member commission is an independent agency created under the state Constitution to assure the integrity and independence of the judiciary. Members are appointed by the governor, judicial associations and the Washington State Bar Association.
This has to be rather chilling for other Knox PR puppets, if any, considering whether they too should interfere.

Ah yes…....one more person whose life has been negatively impacted by Amanda Knox. The long arm of Knox’s dishonesty reaches further all the time.
Good news, overdue, in my opinion. I felt that both Cantwell and Heavey acted inappropriately, considering that they both used their positions to interfere officially in the Knox case in Italy.
Heavey is entitled to his private and personal opinion, of course, but he should have made it VERY clear, when giving his views, that he was speaking in a private capacity as a friend of the Knox family, rather than as a Judge. He did not do so, and will now face the consequences.
Hi Janus. Actually to our slight surprise the oath of office that Washington State judges have to take seem to place limits on their speaking out publicly even on non-judicial matters.
But he took it voluntarily, and as you say here he seems to have quite deliberately thrown the weight of his office behind his open letter to Italy, and involved other people.
We hear that the Rome Embassy and State were pretty surprised. On the whole, they prefer to conduct official US foreign relations, not judges or private citizens.
So happy to hear this! What a stupid move! Everyone has a right to an opinion but, when in public service, they have to appear to remain impartial, or at least not use their official judicial stationery to express their opinion! I agree that both Heavey and Cantwell acted inappropriately. I am just glad the on of them appears to be getting their hand slapped (or a swift kick in the arse) for their behavior!
I’m glad to hear this. No judge should be using his position to interfere in another jurisdiction. That’s Jurisprudence 101.
But in a sense, I feel bad for this guy. He knew Amanda’s family, their daughters were friends, and so he probably worked himself into a state of self-righteous anger, assuming Amanda was innocent (i.e.: “I haven’t been sure of too much in my life, but I’m totally convinced that she’s innocent.”... Ouch, at: http://truejustice.org/ee/index.php?/tjmk/comments/does_prominent_knox_supporter_face_uphill_task/)
Still, it’s only proper that the jurisprudential machinery go after this guy. He needs to be taught a lesson, if nothing else. It makes one question his integrity; if he’ll break his integrity for this, what next?
Peter, have you seen this from AK’s hometown???

Hi Hungarian. Thanks, yes, we did notice that. With a grin! Alessi Part Deux. Please take a look here for three comments so far. Patou reports on just how weird the guy is. If he lies under oat he may be joining his brother in a cell.
Hi Peter:
I have seen the comments. And I know that West Seattle is the main place for the Knox clan supporters. But still…
And in Italy nobody has to take an oath… And even if this guy confesses what will happen with all the traces they had found for AK and RS???
I am wondering also if this is a news in Italy at all, or only here in Seattle…
The story reached the British Press this morning - there are reports in the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mirror, for starters. The article above also links to the Daily Mail. The story sounds concocted from the trial evidence, but there is the small matter of the knife and keys (though again, Luciano would know they were two missing links). Anyway, I am no detective, so would appreciate some feedback.
@Giselle1403
There is no mystery to resolve. The knife and the keys that were never found and could have been placed at a specific location later from papa Sollecito or someone else.
Amanda Knox, Raffaele Sollecito and Rudy Guede are undoubtedly guilty of murdering poor Meredith Kercher. This “new witness” is just another desperate attempt to pervert the course of justice. Probably he got paid for suddenly incriminating his brother. This “witness” won’t convince anyone. First the child murderer says Rudy did it, now another convicted felon says none of the three convicted murder have been there, contradicting Rudy Guede who readily admitted he was there when Meredith was killed.
There is no reason that I can think of for a Mafioso to get involved in this case at all, unless Raffaele’s father is shelling out some big bucks to get someone to lie. Also, the Mafia doesn’t get involved in crimes where there is no big money to be made. There would be no reason to have murdered Meredith, as she wasn’t into racketeering or any of the other well known Mafia activities.
Further, there is no honor outside of the Mafia from those within it. They protect their own only.
Still further, how would the DNA of Guede/Knox/Sollecito have gotten all over the crime scene if not from themselves?
[Belatedly commenting on Heavey] I seem to recall there has been some criticism of the Italian authorities in their handling of an abuse-of-office case involving a public official. It will be interesting to see how the Americans handle such a case.
Kindly tipped by a Seattle reader to this quote from Heavey in The First Post
****************
Washington state’s Judicial Conduct Commission says Heavey may have violated a rule stating that judges “should not lend the prestige of judicial office to advance the private interests of the judge or others”.
In his defence, Heavey told his local paper, the West Seattle Herald: “A judge should not advance his private interest. I was not. I was advancing the interest of justice.”
Heavey also told the paper that it was one of his daughters, who attended Seattle Prep with Amanda Knox, who first drew his attention to Knox’s predicament.
“It was Shana who piqued my interest in Amanda’s case,” he said. “When Shana first learned about the case, she told me ‘Amanda does not have a mean bone in her body’.”
****************
That made one of our lawyer posters laugh.
Advancing the interests of justice? With an arrogant, highly inaccurate, highly insulting open letter to Italy? On official letterhead?
Good luck with that at the hearing, Judge Heavey. Clearly the daughter made you do it.
Well, if Judge Heavey is as naive as he sounds, than I guess it would be a good idea to replace him.
I agree with SteveW.: Let’s see how they are going to deal with Judge Heavey. Stay tuned!
The fact that Mr. Mignini and Mr. Heavey have different agendas may make a difference, as Mr. Mignini was trying to expose a murderer and Mr. Heavey was trying to protect one.
Another thought RE: Knox & Aviello, et al ........
We have the instance of two different people claiming Knox’s innocence, Aviello the Mafioso and Alessi the child-murderer…...both people of extremely low character and thus, low credibility. I wonder which of the two convicts Knox’s lawyers will choose to parade as proof of her innocence in the appeal? Or will they come up with yet another? It will be interesting to see if Papa Sollecito turns out to be funding these “convict confessions”....
