Wow! Perugia Shock’s “Frank Sfarzo” Claims Copyright Infringement In This Video

One week ago our poster Machine posted an excellent video by the talented video creator ViaDellaPergola on the strength of the evidence represented by the knife.

In a move perhaps unique in this whole case, where both right and wrong information has flowed freely (some of it perhaps too freely), “Frank Sfarzo” of Perugia Sock (real name Sforza) has now claimed a copyright infringement.  Click on the arrow above for the confirmation.

The YouTube management have removed the video unusually quickly - another first, in our experience, as such claims are usually argued back and forth in a process.

“Frank Sfarzo” has repeatedly been thrown on the defensive in the past, both for seeking commercial gain from Meredith’s case, and for allowing many seemingly highly libelous comments by anonymous posters.

More to come as we check out the video, and see what the problem actually was.

By the way, in most legal systems copyright can only be claimed by real people with real names. We wonder what name YouTube knows the elusive “Frank” by - and why he has to use a false name.

Pete,
I would say it could be something to do with the DNA readouts - the section of the video where it was shown (when overlaid) that the DNA from the knife tested was undoubtedly Merediths.
I seem to remember the readouts were first published on Frank ‘Sfarzo’s blog.

Hi Deathfish.

Yeah we think it is those charts as well.

The DNA readouts are official evidence and widely available on the web for example here. There would be no way they can be copyrighted by an Italian citizen and even a claim may be against Italian law.

And it is pretty risky for a blog to start claiming copyright (we dont, please see our footer) as the lawyers could be all over that blog, looking to see if Frank too broke anyone’s copyright.

By the way we have captured segments of his comments (now deleted on his blog) that our legal advisers say are prime targets for libel suits.

I would like to add to my above post that this video has obviously irked some people who would prefer that this type of damning evidence be removed from the public domain - in effect exactly what ‘Sfarzo’ has achieved here.

Frank ‘Fartso’ really should get a life. This video just shows evidence presented at trial, and is therefore in the public domain. Who does he think he’s kidding? As I pointed out before, the video even needs to be edited for proper English usage (no offense to its many good qualities). Who would claim its language now???

Really, this is ridiculous. Tell me anything in that original video that Frank could claim. That “Amanda’s DNA is ‘near’ the handle”? (should be written as ‘on’ the handle, anyway). I think that was a fact presented in court. No one can claim copyright over facts, right? Wow. I truly feel like I’ve seen it all. Frank, get a life!!!

We are already in touch with Perugia, and depending on what we hear back ViaDellaPergola will take up the claimed copyright issue with YouTube on those grounds.

Given all of our contacts, any particular disputed chart can be replaced anyway, but we are not going to allow Frank Szfarzo a free ride on this issue.

Supporting your efforts Peter Q. and everyone else at TJM.org in fighting “Szfarzo” and his asinine claims.  ViaDellaPergola’s video was incredibly informative and compelling.

I wonder if there is some other force (and/or money) behind this. It sure is a great way to keep damning evidence from the public. What was the ticker up to on the video at time of pulling?

One of the most damning parts of this video was the way it made explicit how Raffaele reacted to the discovery of the knife, by excusing any Meredith DNA present with some cock-a-mamy story of pricking her finger in a cooking demonstration, when she had never gone to his apartment. The way ViaDellaPergola laid that out was devastating.

As Thomas Jefferson who said: “Truth is great and will prevail if left to herself. She is the proper and sufficient antagonist to error, and has nothing to fear from the conflict, unless, by human interposition, disarmed of her natural weapons, free argument and debate; errors ceasing to be dangerous when it is permitted freely to contradict them.”
