A Shoot-From-The-Hip Donald Trump Appears To Have Been Told Less Than The Full Truth

Click here and here for Donald Trump’s take on the case.
An expanded version appeared on the defunct Trump University website. The discussion thread there probably contains more strident anti-Italy comments than any other, ever, on Meredith’s case.
If you live in most parts of the United States you can go a thousand days without hearing even a single a racist or xenophobic comment. For the most part that is simply not how most people talk. Many have a real eagerness to travel and learn more and student exchange schemes have really rocketed.
There are still some immigrant tensions along the border with Mexico but these days that largely is it. The racial mix in the US is very good fun, it is a huge cultural and economic asset to the country, and there is lots of nice “ethnic” food and some real fun parades. The many young European and Asian women who visit New York say it is the nicest city in the world for them, because they feel safe and welcomed and nobody hits aggressively on them.
The big foreign targets that anyone older than 20 will remember were China, Russia and the Soviet countries. Those of course faded as villains. Since then the most villainously depicted in the movies made here have tended to be Arab. And even that seems to be fading.
So the extreme anti-Italian animosity deliberately and cynically fueled by the FOA campaign is really quite an outlier. The only other demon European country in the recent period was France, when the Prime Minister said war with Iraq was a bad idea, and much of that evolved into farce rather than real hatred.
Donald Trump’s property business went bankrupt in the late 1990s and his casino business went bankrupt last year - at which time his own board forced him out for being such really bad news. He really is not now someone of consequence as oppposed to high-profile. That is, if he ever was.
Quite why Donald Trump leaped into Meredith’s case is frankly not at all clear. He clearly knows almost none of the real facts and he seems to have little to gain.
This strident anti-Italianism he is stoking is really sad, sick news.

wow…Donald Trump…The Don…He’s still around?
Yes! And his hair too… Nice pick, he looks even more stupid than usual….
Donald Trump.
Whoever next - Hanoi Jane?
Maybe the FOA have already contacted her…
The fawning over Donald Trump in the comments section on his site is quite frankly pathetic and shows a desperate clawing for money.
Why do these people lend their names to the Knox campaign and what is in it for them?
Is Trump going to be the executive director of the Knox movie?
If so, if I were he, I would certainly research the script as I think he is operating from the FOA ‘media pack’ at the moment.
Oh Peter, I haven’t laughed so much in a very long time. Thank you. Poor old Don. He doesn’t get it does he!
now it’s a 50 hour interrogation? the absolutely good think about donald trump speaking out on behalf of amanda knox is that MOST of the people in america have no respect for him and many don’t even know he is still alive. and further more, NO ONE listens to him. it still saddens me that a concise, point-by-point account of the trial evidence cannot be handed to each and every journalist and television station. then they can make up their own EDUCATED minds as to guilt or innocence.
Let us not also forget that in the UK ‘trump’ is polite slang for a fart, which about sums up Donald’s views on this matter.
And Peter, I didn’t know your name was so well known, lol. One of the comments referred to ‘crazy Quennellian trolls’. Well if that is what those who support the guilty verdict are known as, then I’m happy to be considered a crazy Quennellian troll too.
His hair in that bottom pic looks very regal, like a British Naval Admiral, cira 1880.
Also kinda looks like Foghorn Leghorn.
Hi Ginro. That sure is funny. The names of some our Seattle colleagues are of course out in the open. Others here mainly use screen names for genuine work or family reasons.
TJMK has always been a group effort and for several months I posted here as Fast Pete. It was because of the media and specifically the BBC needing someone with a name to speak up for Meredith and in the BBC’s case for Mignini that I switched.
I’ve run other blogs under my name and actually recommend it. It helps. Reporters generally wont quote pseudonyms, information flows faster, and the flack if anything seems to reduce.
I read Skep’s comment on PMF regarding Trump and thought it was worth repeating here, if this is OK. (Her last remark especially made me laugh so hard):
“When Donald Trump weighs in, it is a sign that a story is well past its sell-by date. What did he see? Nothing. What does he know? Even less. Debate over judicial methods? I think he means mindless critiques of a sovereign power based on nothing more than the ignorance of those making them.
Personally, I would be happy to see the Donald Trumps of the world boycott all of Europe. Their boorish behavior and implausible comb-overs give the rest of us Americans a bad rep.”
I wrote on his blog that instead of boycotting Italy he could use some traveling there. Italy has some great hair stylists who could definitely help him with a better hair do.
I’m worried however for the Mexican restaurants. Italy and Mexico have very similar flags, and I doubt those red necks who wrote on Trump’s blog will be able to tell the difference. They might end up boycotting Jose’s tacos instead of Giuseppe’s cannelloni.

“Also kinda looks like Foghorn Leghorn.”
Best laugh I’ve had all day! Except of course for the pix themselves….....priceless! I was thinking “Chia Pet”!
Of course, he backed that Prejean girl that got demoted from Miss America or some other useless pageant, too, didn’t he? I guess he likes backing losers.
He has a talent for making money, but even more talent for losing it and going bankrupt (at least a couple of times).
Quite honestly, I’m glad he’s on Knox’s side. He is more suited to their ilk.
Donald Trump is a born Joker, no one buys his ideas at least in the United States. He is a shame for humanity. His ex-wife will be able to describe him much better than anyone else…
Given Trumpie’s track record my guess would be Bremner would only need to hike her skirt a little (far short of Sharon Stone) to make Trumpie slobber like a starving St. Bernard for any role he could muster for some face time. “How old is foxy,er I mean Ms. Knox—ok I’m in. What do you want me to say. Oh and I’ll get a mention in any books, right? Better yet, maybe I could produce a movie?” Look how quickly he injected himself into the Tiger Woods matter as panderer and chief to errant celebs.
Fantastic - now I can spend all my holidays in Italy safe in the knowledge that I will never have to meet Trump and his ridiculous hair-don’t there.
I’ve been a male model for 10 years, and I would never go out with hair like that.
Commissario Montalbano, I take it that the comment by member11046900 was in fact you then? LOL!
