We are seeing about 1200 unique visitors a day. And more visitors on the hearing dates and the trial dates.

The “visits” column in our daily statistics for the past week shows the most significant figures. Readers in nearly 100 countries. These are the top 20. This is an English-language site, of course, and Italian readership of Italian sites would be proportionally higher.

And the UK has its own excellent online reporting. There are proportionally far more media sources reporting the case than here in the United States. .

Seems a wonderful tribute to the compelling persona of Meredith herself. Meredith has attracted a real worldwide following.

Someone has asked us about the Denial of Service threats we attract on a forum or two. Precisely what that would achieve is not immediately obvious. They are easy to ward off, and readership on attacked sites usually JUMPS and remains even more loyal.

On the scale of 1 to 10 of silly threats, DOS threats would rank about a 12. Especially as we are extremely well connected in New York and Washington. We think we are a pretty mild site compared to what we could be.

And of course, 1200 visitors a day for a four-month-old site is a very nice milestone. But with just a few of the measures we might take, daily visitors would come to way exceed that.

This is not the first time that this individual (with the backing of a good friend and associate) has made these threats.

But I would think that, with all the noise he and his friends made about the importance of defending freedom of expression when Mignini asked the WS Herald to remove its offending web page containing the gist of Paul Ciolino’s delirious rants, he and his friends would be loathe to carry out an act that is a blatant assault on free speech and freedom of inquiry.

How can anyone take those who espouse these principles seriously if they spend their time trying to intimidate others into silence?

Post that was above this one on the Seattle PI editorial board is dropped because of a heartfelt appeal from someone who knows other staff. The paper is down but may just still make it. Good luck.

Are there any trial experts out these that might give some insight into what will probably happen on day one?  Are there opening arguments?  Will they start with a description of the crime and crime scene?

Yes C3PO we’ll have a post up late today from Italy on what is on the trial agenda for Friday and Saturday.

Latest I was hearing yesterday was that AK’s relationships with her various acquaintances in Perugia will be explored, with Filomena probably testifying saturday.

To the family:
As a parent of college age kids, my heart goes out to you.  May you find peace, and may God bless Meredith.
