More Collateral Damage: Owner Hopes To Sell 7 Via Della Pergola Though Chances Seem Slim

Please click here for a Powerpoint in which Kermit explains how this unusual house came to be.

The house has just gone on sale for E460,000, which is not steep for two apartments with parking in Perugia, a high-income town with a huge university. But whether the house sells fast - this is said to be the best season price-wise - we will have to wait and see.

The owner is a retired woman who lives in Rome and the rental payments were once an important part of her income. As one of the victims of the crimes perpetrated late in 2007 she has been legally represented at the 2008 and 2009 trials and the 2011 and 2013 appeals.

The house seems unlikely to attract professionals as a place for them to reside, with its continuing appearance in the news and daily visits. Rental income in recent years from the several groups of young people who occupied the apartments has been quite spasmodic.

It may be that the house is replaced by a parking facility. Infiltration of carbon monoxide gas from the cars above has been a problem recently, and there is to be a very long escalator right from about there to carry commuters up the hill to the city center.

For a short time in 2007 it gave eight residents such joy. But perhaps it is better gone - there are better ways to remember Meredith by.

Happy New Year to everyone, and best wishes and joy this year!

The Roman lady who owns the cottage has been hard hit financially by the loss of her income from the Perugia house. As Peter says, another victim of the fallout of violence.

I wonder if some property developer might bulldoze the place down and build a restaurant there. Meredith loved social life, she would be happy to see the property used to make a lot of people happy and to meet human needs in the spirit of her Erasmus. Or maybe an art center? I wish the University could buy it, make a student center with computer lab.

I hope the Roman lady gets a good price if she sells. The parking space alone is worth a lot near a congested city center like Perugia.

Could it be turned into a Museum for Meredith? Or a dance studio in her honor. Maybe a battered women’s shelter where broken lives are healed for new beginnings? Maybe the Roman lady could donate the cottage to Caritas or the church as a seed she sows that would multiply back to meet her own needs.

Poor lady, I doubt she would ever have imagined her purse being hit by such a horrific and evil deed.  Happy New Year every one, and heartfelt hope that 2014 is a good year for the Kerchers.  I oray they get justice for Meredith!

Happy new year all - is PMF.org down?

May peace be with Meredith and her family as justice is served. Not long now!

Happy New Year to you all!

My thoughts are with all the victims of this dreadful crime.

God bless you all.

It must be so deeply distressing for the owner lady…always there, the terribilita.
It is expensive to live in Rome, too.
I hope whatever happens there is truly a new beginning.

It is about 36 minutes away from midnight here in England…fireworks have started.
I wish for everyone to find happiness and peace in the New Year, and pray for justice and a fairer, kinder world.

Happy New Year to all the brilliant people on TJMK. Justice is coming very soon.

Just thought myself it might have to be a carpark and that seems to be in mind.  The lady will have to accept a substantial loss perhaps but best to cut her losses now.

Echoing Hopeful above,  couldn’t the town or university buy it and make it into a small memorial park or similar in Meredith’s name?

Of course Perugia might be anxious to move on but surely concreting it over with a car park is disrespectful to Meredith’s memory. To me it’s rather like pretending nothing happened, move along, nothing to see etc.

Happy new year to everyone here on our site.

Lets hope we get some good news this year, and justice is served permanently for Meredith and her family.

Today its 6 Years and 60 days….justice is well overdue..

Seconding Everything you wrote on 01/01/14 at 09:18 AM, and adding a quote from ARGO -

“If you want to sell a lie - get the Press to sell it for you”

Let’s hope such MSM Obstructions of Justice are rejected.

If anyone hasn’t joined Twitter yet, please do so and give Meredith a voice when journalists start claiming there is no evidence, Knox was railroaded by a corrupt prosecutor etc when Knox and Sollecito are convicted of murder.

Posted by The Machine on 01/01/14 at 09:53 PM | #

Thanks, the Machine.
I don’t normally go on Twitter, but will do for this…it’s so obnoxious ...
Would you lIke to flag up on here when we’re especially needed?

Posted by SeekingUnderstanding on 01/01/14 at 10:37 PM | #

Hi SeekingUnderstanding,

I’m expecting a hysterical media backlash after Knox and Sollecito are convicted. However, there will be the biggest Twitter storm ever. These journalists won’t be allowed to act as press spokespeople for Amanda Knox anymore.

Posted by The Machine on 01/01/14 at 11:59 PM | #

...that doesn’t sound good idea for the New Year - an hysterical outburst. Very adolescent.
Some growing up required soon?

I second The Machine’s suggestion to get a Twitter account. I got a lot of mileage there and meeting likeminded people. As long as you use the #hashtags and add links to TJMK or the Wiki it will ensure our views are heard.

Knox has admitted on her blog to having staged a break-in, burglary, and assault on her housemates prior to leaving for Perugia in 2007.

@Stilicho -
Really?! Do you have screen caps of that, or did you otherwise save it? I’d love to see what she said.
